Death of a Pioneer: Lombuso Taongai
Former Premier League of Swaziland (PLS) Chief Operations Officer Lombuso Taongai has passed on after a short illness.Tongai became the first woman to head the PLS office in Swaziland about eight years ago.Growing up in Harare Zimbabwe a small country in the southern Africa, Lombuso came from a typical middle class family.She received a good Catholic education at Monte Casino Girls High School and Nagle House Presentation Convent. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Africa University and her career took off. Lombuso broke barriers as a female in the world dominated world of soccer. Tongai was appointed elite football Chief Operations Officer in 2007 during the chairmanship of Veli Dlamini. She was in office when the current structure of the Board of Governors was established in 2008, under the leadership of former XI Men boss Moses ‘Mkhulu’ Motsa. In 2008 the office hired its first CEO in Vulindlela Kunene and Tongai served under him until she left and joined a private company called NDZ Consultants. To read more click here
