CDC Data Changing the Narrative of Black Fatherhood
A CDC study conducted between 2006-2010 is changing the narrative about black fatherhood.FATHERS WHO LIVE WITH THEIR CHILDREN
1. 70% of black dads said they bathed, diapered or dressed those kids every day, compared with 60% of white fathers and 45% of Latino fathers, according to a report released Friday by the National Center for Health Statistics
2. 35% of black fathers said they read to them daily, compared with 30% of white dads and 22% of Latino dads
FATHERS WHO DO NOT LIVE WITH THEIR CHILDREN
1. 42% said they fed or ate with them that frequently
2. 41% said they bathed, diapered or helped dress them as often — rates on par with or higher than those of other men living apart from their kids.

This CDC study is full of errors. First, the indicators for good parenting was that the father did something with the child once in a 4 week period. You could be in prison and still answer yes to these questions. Then, it focuses on just the father, not the child. So the father could have 10 kids, could have eaten a meal with one of those kids in a previous 4 week period and be counted the same as another father who eats with his child once a day. Never married black males father children at 5 times the rate of white never married males (US Census Bureau). Therefore, they are five times as likely to answering favorably to these questions. Finally, look at the CDC study showing the pervasive damage to children when there is no father living at home. This study is a complete farce. It needs to be done on a “by-child” basis.

James why do uou focus on unmarried fathers & ignore data on the married father? We all know fathers should be in the home & in this study it shows they are involved @ least 70% . This is the reality & as they say in business numbers never lie.
