Mara Group Opens 2 Cellphone Factories in Rwanda & South Africa

Mara Group, makers of the Mara X and Mara Z cellphones, has opened two new high-tech cellphone manufacturing plants in Rwanda and South Africa. The Mara Group manufactures affordable cellphones for the African market. Mara X and Mara Z, both run on Android. Mara X has a 5.5″ 18:9 display, while the Mara Z has a 5.7″ 18:9 display. They are expected to sell for $190 and $130 respectively.

Ten days after officially opening the Rwanda factory, Mara Group also opened another manufacturing facility in Durban, South Africa. The company seeks to leverage on the African Continental Free Trade Agreement to boost sales on the continent.

Mara receives financial support from the African Development Bank through its High 5 strategy to industrialize Africa.
