He lived in Germany from 1984 to 1996, with Leroy, his Jamaican father, and Inge, his German mother. After that, his family moved to Montego Bay in 1996 to set up a tourism business. However, he struggled to practice and maintain his skills in Jamaica so he moved back to Europe. His mother bought him a Volkswagen camper van with with a kitchen, a bathroom and three beds which he used to tour Europe and play in various tennis championships. His highest ever ranking was No. 78 in the world. However, after his victory over Rafael Nadal at Wimbledon, he ranking will definitely improve.
