The United States Senate has confirmed Loretta Lynch as United States Attorney General, replacing Eric Holder who was the first African American in that position. Her nomination was slow, proving to be the longest in history and despite some opposition from Republicans she has been appointed to the coveted position.

- She turned down a full scholarship from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
- She does pro bono work for the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda which was established to prosecute those responsible for human right violations during the 1994 genocide.
